RSI signals
RSI leaving its extreme while the close is still in the zone. A CONSENSUS component, on by default.
The RSI signal is the moment RSI leaves an extreme while price is still at the channel edge: crossing the overbought level from above gives S-RSI, crossing the oversold level from below gives L-RSI. It's the RSI version of FADE: "the overheating is over, price is still in the zone".
It's an event, not a state. "RSI is overbought" would be true on every bar of a run; the exit happens once.

How it's calculated
S-RSI fires on the bar where RSI drops back under the overbought level while the close is still past the upper zone edge. L-RSI is the mirror: RSI climbs back over the oversold level with the close past the lower edge. Zone edge offset (%) moves the edge further out, and the signal has to pass the anti-spam.
With Auto period and levels by timeframe on (the default), the RSI period and the overbought and oversold levels are picked for the chart's timeframe. On some fast intraday timeframes RSI gets shorter and the levels move further apart, so only sharper extremes count; elsewhere the classic settings apply.
Don't confuse this RSI with the one in Divergences. That one has its own period and its own auto values.
RSI is a CONSENSUS component, on by default. Its events count for CONSENSUS even with the labels hidden, and they're hidden by default.
Settings
Group 📐 RSI signals.
| Input | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show RSI signals | off | Shows the S-RSI / L-RSI labels. |
| RSI zone | Off | RSI's own depth zone. Off means the general zone. |
| Auto period and levels by timeframe | on | Picks the period and levels by timeframe (see above). Off: the three manual inputs below apply. |
| RSI period manual | 14 | RSI length. Shorter reacts faster: more signals, more noise. |
| Overbought level manual | 70 | S-RSI fires when RSI crosses this level from above. Higher: fewer short signals. |
| Oversold level manual | 30 | L-RSI fires when RSI crosses this level from below. Lower: fewer long signals. |
| Zone edge offset (%) | 0.0 | Moves the zone edge further from the mean; the close has to go deeper. |
| Price filter | on | Early pass for a repeat signal after a big enough price move. See Anti-spam. |
| Price filter threshold (%) | 1.0 | The move needed for that early pass. |
| Min bars between signals | 5 | Minimum pause between RSI signals, strictly more than N bars. |
